Schaduw references the term 'Shadow' from psychologist Carl Jung, which represents the part of the unconscious, existing of repressed weaknesses, shortcomings and instincts.

Jarlentji:
''I wanted to make a project that was dedicated to my own Shadow. The project was established during Covid, and this period reinforced a lot of negative and depressed feelings for me.

It's important to me to be honest in my lyrics. And now sharing this darker side of me, I want to give an honest perspective not just for my own freedom of expression, but also reassure other people who experience these feelings, that it's okay. That this is all part of this journey called life!

And to offer hope, I named the last track 'Uiteindelijk Komt 't Wel Goed', which means 'Eventually it'll be alright'...''
